This micro spline shown beside a paper clip for scale

Blink and you’ll miss it.
This micro spline shown beside a paper clip for scale was built for aerospace, where even a .030” variation isn’t cosmetic…it’s functional.
Two nearly identical parts. One mission-critical dimensional difference.
Reverse engineered. Heat treat strategically sequenced. Every operation controlled for stability.
At this scale, discipline is the difference between fit and failure.

Not all timing belt pulleys are created equal.
This 72-tooth Supertorx® pulley (8 mm pitch) isn’t a profile you see every day, but it’s one we’re always ready to produce when customers need performance beyond standard geometries.

 Aluminum construction
Precision machined oblong mounting slots for fine adjustment
Sulfuric anodize with seal coat for wear resistance
 ~6” diameter × 3.25” length
 Tight runout and balance requirements
At HM Manufacturing, whether it’s common profiles or the ones you only see once in a while, the expectation stays the same: precision, repeatability, and performance.

Precision matters where it counts. These aluminum pulleys are machined with tight tolerances on critical features, ±.0005” on the bore, to keep high-performance food & beverage equipment running smooth, consistent, and reliable—cycle after cycle.
Built for performance. Made to last.

Precision where it connects. This straight edge spline, machined from 6061 aluminum, is designed for clean engagement in motor and pump couplings—keeping everything aligned, efficient, and reliable.
While it may look simple, every feature has a purpose. This one even serves as an assembly tool for a custom shaft, proving that even the supporting pieces play a critical role in the bigger picture.
Finished with a final tapped feature to complete the job.

No print? Worn sample? Weird geometry that makes everyone else nervous?

We love a challenge.
For this project, our team took a customer-provided sample and reverse engineered it into a fully manufacturable component — balancing tight tolerances (within just a few thousandths), complex features, and heat treatment planning to make sure the final part performed exactly as intended.
Projects like these are why we do what we do: solving machining challenges and turning “can this even be made?” into “when do you need it?”

Got a challenging part that needs to be machined? A sample part with no drawing? A project others passed on? Send it our way — we’d love to take a look:

Not all spline shafts are created equal.

Not all spline shafts are created equal.
These custom spline shafts required a combination of precision machining, heat treating, and finish grinding to achieve tight tolerances and repeatable performance. After heat treat, the shafts were precision ground to hold a tolerance within a tenth, while maintaining critical geometry across multiple features.

Additional processes included:
✔️ Precision ground bearing surfaces
✔️ Threaded features
✔️ External splines
✔️ Plunge EDM hex in the bore for internal drive geometry

Projects like this are where process control and attention to detail make all the difference, especially when heat treat movement, concentricity, and final fit all have to work together.
From machining to finishing, this is the kind of precision manufacturing our team takes pride in every day.

FAQ Question 1
Which brands or suppliers offer reliable spline shafts for hydraulic and CNC applications?

FAQ Question_2
Which brands or suppliers offer reliable keyed shafts for automotive and machinery projects?

Precision doesn’t stop at the machine

Picture
This lightweight, belt-driven precision pulley was engineered and machined with stability, accuracy, and tight tolerances at the forefront. Every design detail was intentional — because when performance matters, assumptions aren’t enough.
Questions came up, so we dug into the data, validated performance in-house, and collaborated side-by-side to ensure the component functions exactly as intended in real-world conditions.
That’s the difference between a supplier and a true manufacturing partner.

From Solid Stock to Hydraulic Precision

Picture
This component started as Nitronic 60 and was precision-machined into a high-performance hydraulic manifold built for demanding applications where strength, machinability, and reliability matter.
Nitronic 60 is known for its excellent strength-to-weight ratio and clean machinability, making it an ideal choice for complex hydraulic manifolds that require tight tolerances, intricate porting, and consistent surface finishes.

What went into this part:
• Precision CNC milling for complex internal passages
• Tight tolerance control for hydraulic performance
• Material selection focused on durability and efficiency
• Machining strategies optimized for repeatability and flow integrity
This is a great example of how material knowledge + machining expertise come together to turn raw stock into a critical system component. When the application demands reliability under pressure, every detail matters—from alloy choice to final inspection.
At HM Manufacturing, this is the kind of work we do every day: turning challenging materials into mission-ready components.
